Perkins Edible Forest Garden

Tulsa, OK

Eleven fruit trees, 3 grape vines, 9 blueberry bushes, 3 Figs, 2 cherry shrubs, and 8 Juneberries planted using biomimicry of native ecosystems where these species thrive. We have established fungal-soil woodland garden beds to grow perennial woodland species in certain areas of the bacteria-dominated soil of the grassland/ lawn. Clover/Medic mix is used as a cover crop and fertility generator in the woodchip beds. Wildflower and herb seeds are added to expand species diversity and landscape value. As the trees mature they will provide shade and start to fill in the canopy of the backyard, providing dimension, beauty, habitiat and food.
